My boys found a swallowtail caterpillar last fall and it has been in it's chrysalis all winter. I wasn't aware that you were supposed to keep it in a cold place, so it has been in our relatively warm house. Is there something I can do to help it emerge? Should I put it in the refrigerator for a few weeks or is it too late for that? Thanks.

Jeff, it would be best if the butterfly didn't emerge until there is spring flowers for it to nectar on. So maybe if you could keep it cool in a basement or garage for a while it might be best. Good luck and I hope you get to experience the miracle of the butterfly emerging!
