Monarchs in Central Florida in November and December?

by Barbara

Will my Monarch's migrate away from Central Florida in November? It is usually quite warm in November and mildly cool in December here. I'm raising Monarchs and plan to sell butterfly houses I've made to others during November for a fund raiser. I wonder if they will still remain here or are there other butterflies that will reproduce in Central Florida during those months?

I know that some monarchs stay in Florida all winter. I have been on vacation near Bradenton many winters (during January-March time period) and have seen monarchs there. I found this interesting information about Florida monarchs. I hope this helps!

Butterfly houses

Hi Barbara,
It is a shame you are not closer to the Tampa area. I have been looking for butterfly houses and can't find them. I have monarchs that stay around in the winter (not this past winter when it went below freezing).
